I am principally a painter, though I also work in photography and even
occasionally in sculpture. My work tends to tread the border between
the abstract and the figurative, and much of it refers to the body in
some respect. In my paintings, for example, forms often take on flesh-like
tones and weight. My photographs of fruit play on the ambiguous nature
of my subjects' textures and forms.
I enjoy creating work that is not straightforwardly representative.
While I may be thinking about familiar shapes and textures during my
creative process, the finished piece is rarely a faithful rendition
of any given object. The imagery and forms that result might be better
understood as hybrids or extrapolations of things we know.

Contemporary artists in whose work I find resonance and affinity include
Jenny Saville (b. 1970), Darren Waterston (b. 1965) and Jeanne Dunning
(b. 1960). Historical influences include Salvador Dalí, Yves
Tanguy, Vincent Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and Leonardo DaVinci.

I also run a small art and product photography company: Small Wonder Photography.
