Photographic prints are now available in the shop (more to come soon), and some photos that I've had around for a while, mounted on foam core, are available on the etsy storefront. Doing a little late-summer cleaning...

My first ever silkscreen edition is done, signed, and up for sale! Also, both my etsy storefront and the shop page here on this site are up and running.
The image to the right is the edition drying on my studio floor (click for the full view). It might be prudent to build myself a drying rack. | |

It's been a while since I've updated here -- but that doesn't mean that I haven't been up to anything! I've been going in a million directions at once lately:
- For one, I'm done with school now (until I go crawling back, which I'm sure will happen eventually).
- I've been working on getting my craft/product photography company, Small Wonder, up and running. A new website, contracts, portfolio-building... a long process.
- I've decided to start screenprinting. I love intaglio printing, but the logistics of needing a printing press just weren't going to work, so I'm going a different route. I plan on making original images, as well as silkscreen interpretation of some of my paintings. And with that will come a "shop" page which will link to my etsy.com site.
- As of late I've been sleeping almost none and painting a lot again. It's fantastic. I have multiple paintings on the verge of completion, so look forward to new images soon.
- Oh, and it looks like I'll be having some work up at the Laurelthirst Public House. I'm hanging on Wednesday (the 9th).

An article worth reading: Making
Art, Creating Community, in the Oregonian. The Launchpad Gallery
and its founder Ben are featured with two other local galleries
that support emerging artists and a sense of community and acceptance
among those of us at the bottom of the art ladder in Portland.

The studio is workable. It's not
done, and probably won't be for a long while, but it's functional
and that in itself is fabulous. I have the space to have 6-10 paintings
all up at the same time, opposed to the 1-3 in my last studio space.
I've been gessoing like mad, but they're all medium-large to huge
in size, so I've started on some small works on paper to get back
into the creative rhythm.
I'm looking forward to having new pieces to add to the site.

Demolition has officially begun.
Soon, I will have a real studio again instead of trying to paint
in an awkward hallway. I got impatient and tore off all the drywall
on the 'outside' of the room I've been using as my studio. I'm not
ready to tear the whole wall down yet, because I still have to finish
up a project on the other side, but I'm that much closer... Pictures
will surely follow.
I've been thinking about adding a blog to my page, possibly to
replace this business on the front page... but I hardly ever update
anyway. Would it be worth it?
Oh, and the piece I had in the Love show at the Launch Pad sold.
Yay.

Had (technically still have) a piece
in the Love Show at the Launch Pad. It closes on the 29th.
Other than that, I got a gallery page of portrait/fashion/figure
photography posted. Enjoy.

December was also very busy. I uploaded
some paintings today, and the Alchemy group show at Vorpal Space opens
tomorrow night!

October was so busy I hardly got a chance
to update anything here...
I've got a show of photography opening tonight in the White Gallery
(at Portland State, 1825 SW Broadway [map]
on the second floor of the Smith building). This show, "Of Flesh
and Fruit," got a full-page article in the Vanguard yesterday
-- very exciting. The opening tonight is from 5-7.
I've also had a show of paintings titled "Graven Flesh"
up at Vorpal Space (in the Everett Lofts, on the corner of NW Flanders
and Broadway [map]).
There will be a closing reception for that on this Saturday (the 3rd)
at the galleryfrom 7-10 pm. If you're reading this, you're invited
to drop by (and bring your friends).
And last but not least, I have a few pieces on consignment around
the block at Rake (325 NW 6th Ave
[map]).
If you don't see them, don't be embarrassed. Their back area has grown
quite a bit recently. Just ask Jeremy Tucker to point them out to
you.

The opening of the "Secrets"
show at the Launch Pad
(534 SE Oak St.) was great. A lot of fantastic work -- surprising
for an open call show, but not for the venue. Go see it while it's
up. It comes down on the 30th of this month.

Synonymous Biology has been uninstalled...
which means it's now available for viewing on the website. If you're
interested in purchasing any of the paintings, simply email me.

| July 28, 2007 |
My show at the Tin
Shed Garden Cafe (1438 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR) is up. If
you missed the opening -- or didn't go in because it was so crowded
in there -- no worries. It'll be up until August 27th. So go enjoy
some great food, and take a painting home for dessert.

The PSU Senior show, "Exit 07,"
opened at the Littman and White Galleries, 1825 SW Broadway. My painting
"Appliance Apocalypse" is the first thing you see when you
walk through the doors of the Littman.

I'm now waiting on a contact in May from
Boss Works to set up a studio visit. Yay.
|
| March 16, 2007 |
Uploaded a bunch of new Of Flesh and
Fruit photos in the Art Photography gallery. Go take a look!
|
| March 1-3, 2007 |
I participated in Phase I of Artist
Auditions II, orchestrated by Boss
Works. I find out on March 25th if I get to move to Phase II.
Cross your fingers...

Opening night for the Bike-Power
show went fantastically. About 2000 people visited 621 Gallery, and
the night even included an Art-Bike Parade and bike-themed films.
A slide
show of the opening night is available for viewing. |
| January 16, 2007 |
The painting "Replacement Parts"
was accepted for Bike-Power,
an exhibition juried by Keith Robertson, Associate Professor of Digital
Arts at Florida State University. The show will open on March 2nd
at 621 Gallery in Tallahassee, Florida.
